 The 26th Annual Convocation of Ramaiah Institute of Management (RIM) was held on 25th November, 2022 at the Apex Block Convention Hall of the MSRIT Campus

The graduating class of 2022 had 172 students. The chief guest for the occasion was Sri. Kamal Bali, President & Managing Director, Volvo Group, India.  The dignitaries present were the Director & Trustee of GEF Shri. M.R. Anandaram, Chief Executive, Engineering & General Sciences, Shri. B.S. Ramaprasad, Chief of Finance, GEF, Shri. G. Ramachandra, Director-Academics, Research & Administration, RIM, Dr. Manasa Nagabhushanam and Registrar Evaluation, Dr. Savitha Rani Ramachandran. 
The Convocation began with a procession. This was followed by an invocation song and the Ramaiah anthem. Dr. Manasa Nagabhushanam welcomed the gathering. The Honorable director, Sri M.R Anandaram declared the 26th Convocation open. The Dignitaries lit the lamp and paid floral tribute to the founder Chairman, Late Dr. M.S. Ramaiah. Dr. Manasa Nagabhushanam, presented the Annual Report highlighting the milestones achieved by the Institute during the year 2021-22 and administered the oath to the graduating class of 2022. 
The Post Graduate Diploma Certificates were presented to all the students by the Chief Guest and the dignitaries. A scintillating medal and award ceremony was also part of the Convocation that recognized outstanding achievements in academic and co-curricular activities. Mr. Dhananjaya V was awarded the gold medal for academic excellence and the outstanding student of the batch went to Ms. Pooja Ohja. 

                   
The Chief Guest delivered the Convocation address. He talked about the resilience of India in the post COVID era. He attributed this to a relatively young work force in India which has the required technological and digital skills, strong GDP growth, and the rapid development of infrastructure. He suggested combating today’s uncertainty by being adaptable and flexible to change. He suggested embracing sustainability by being economically efficient, in an environmentally friendly context. He suggested companies should be socially inclusive and foster a balanced culture that encourages innovativeness and growth. He emphasized the importance of ethical and moral values. He highlighted the need for competitors to collaborate with each other to foster sustainability, creating ecosystems where large companies collaborate with start-ups to drive innovation and change. He concluded the speech with a Quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” 

The Chief Executive, Shri. B.S. Ramaprasad delivered the Presidential address. He highlighted the way the GEF guides and develops future leaders by collaborating with its sister institutions. He also highlighted how the Ramaiah Evolute (cross disciplinary start-up ecosystem) serves as an innovative platform for students to provide solutions for the wellbeing of the society.
Sri M.R Anandaram, Director RIM, declared the 26th Convocation closed. The Convocation ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Savitha Rani Ramachandran, Registrar Evaluation, RIM, who thanked the guests and the RIM fraternity for their commendable efforts to make the event a grand success. This was followed by the National Anthem.

The Graduating Class this year have performed a Stellar Job with 100% placement,bringing accolades to the Institution and the Country.

 BPCL rolls out second phase of setting up EV Charging stations in Southern India,with Two Corridors emanating from Namma BENGALURU: Electric car owners in Bengaluru can now drive down to weekend getaways in their vehicles without any range anxiety:Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited [BPCL]on Friday launched EV Fast-Charging stations on two corridors: Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Mysore-Kodagu highways.

BPCL officials said fast chargers follow the CCS-2 protocol and are strategically located at nine of its fuel stations with an approximate distance of 100 Km on both sides of the routes.

“BPCL plans to provide CCS-2 EV charging stations at its fuel pumps at periodic intervals on all major national highways connecting major cities and economic centres in the country;eventually covering/facilitating around 7000  BPCL Petrol Bunks,countrywide.The Chennai-Trichy- Madurai highway was part of the first phase” said PS Ravi, executive director in-charge (retail), BPCL.

       

“The installation of 25 KW Fast Charger will enable customers to discover and charge their EVs(Cars,SUV's...the facilities do not support 2/3 wheelers-which lack the Fast Charge capability)in about 30 minutes to enjoy travel range of upto 125 Km along with the convenience of BPCL’s user mobile application "HelloBPCL". The fast charger can be self-operated without any manual assistance, however support staff help will be available, if and when needed,” 

Full safety protocols/fire safety measures will be in place,with neat/clean/ergonomic design features-facilities,he said.

He said customers will soon be able to book slots via app in advance. “We are also planning to set up solar panels at these retail outlets so we don’t need to depend on the grid for energy requirements. We are planning 200 more fast-charging corridors which includes Bengaluru- Kodaikanal and Bengaluru-Tirupati”.

A sum of Rs 500 Cr has been allocated for this year,eventually enabling/facilitating 7000 BPCL Petrol Bunks with EV Fast Charger Facilities,with plans for around 200 corridors in INDIA.

Ravi also unveiled BPCL’s e-gift vouchers tailored for the festive season. “We have launched an automated fuelling technology -UFill- to e-getaways;giving an extra filip to Namma BENGALURU-the most Cosmopolitan city in INDIA !

Himalaya brings back “Ek Nayi Muskaan” - a flagship initiative aimed at spreading awareness on cleft lip and palate in children

Cleft lip and/or palate is a birth difference that occurs when certain facial tissues do not fuse properly during fetal development. One in every 700 babies are born with a cleft globally. Highlighting on the professional career of students, he advised that hard work, right attitude and integrity can take their career to new heights. ATREE Celebrates 25 Years of Environmental Research with Two-Day Festival in Namma BENGALURU

 

The Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is hosting a series of events in Bengaluru, including panel discussions, debates, film screenings and talks by eminent researchers in the field of conservation. The festival is free and open to everyone. ­ ­ ­ ­ ­ ­ ­ Bengaluru: The Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), a non-profit research organisation focused on conservation and sustainability, is marking its silver jubilee with a two-day festival on 18 and 19 August at the JN Tata Auditorium in the IISc campus, Malleswaram.  Under the broad theme ‘Life and Lives’, the event is open to the public and includes a range of programmes including discussions on the state of conservation science and sustainable development, debates on some of the most current and contentious environmental issues, book launches as well as film screenings and traditional performances.  The line-up of speakers includes ATREE’s Founder-President and Chair, Kamaljit S.Bawa, who is the first Indian to receive the Linnean Medal in Botany for his pioneering work on the biodiversity of forests in Central America, the Western Ghats and the eastern Himalayas. Earlier this year, he was elected to the US National Academy of Sciences. Sharachchandra Lele, Distinguished Fellow in Environmental Policy and Governance at ATREE, will deliver the keynote, ‘Bridging Disciplines, Bridging Roles: Inter and Trans-Disciplinary Challenges in Environmental Research’. Naturescapes, Urbanscapes and Waterscapes ATREE has categorised the wide variety of events into three showcases, each focusing on a different aspect of environmental change. Nitin Sekar, Lead of WWF-India’s Elephant Conservation Programme, will discuss ‘why we conserve species that kill people’ as part of the Naturescapes showcase on 18 August.  On August 19, Urbanscapes features Anne Feenstra, former Dean of Architecture at CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He will talk about the search for better balanced and healthier urbanscapes through scenario-thinking. There will also be presentations by Chandni Singh, senior researcher at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), and Anindya Sinha, professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS). The Waterscapes segment will feature a talk on ‘Stressed and Insulted Waterscapes: Countering Mal-Development and Climate Change through the Nexus Approach’ by Nepal’s former Minister for Water Resources, Dipak Gyawali. There will also be a ‘Rendezvous’ session on equitable water use hosted by Jagdish Krishnaswamy, Dean of the School of Environment and Sustainability at IIHS. Other panel discussions include one moderated by Rohini Nilekani on ‘What lies ahead? Challenges and opportunities for Samaj, Sarkar and Bazaar’, based on the collection of essays she recently released as a book. She will be in conversation with K VijayRaghavan, former Principal Scientific Advisor for the central government; Harini Nagendra, professor at Azim Premji University; and Shloka Nath, Acting CEO of the India Climate Collaborative under Tata Trusts. Cafe Controversial These wide-ranging talks are not all. One of the most anticipated events are the three cafe-style debates where the audience can participate and weigh in with their opinions. The three ‘controversial’ subjects are ‘Cafe Vriksha - To Plant or Not to Plant Trees’, ‘Cafe Compassion - To Feed or Not to Feed Animals’ and ‘Cafe Organic - To Turn or Not to Turn Organic’. These events will see experts speaking for either side of the arguments and interactive sessions with the audience. Interactive exhibits, book launches and traditional performances Translating ATREE’s deep domain knowledge into more accessible forms, the silver jubilee celebrations will see the launch of a number of important books including ‘Ullam’, a book for school students around the Vembanad lake in Kerala to know more the life around them; ‘Checklist of India's Plants’, a momentous collation of India’s flowering plants; and ‘Snakes and Lizards of the Sky Islands of the Western Ghats’. On Thursday evening, ATREE will host four indigenous art forms performed by communities the institution works closely with. This includes Villupaattu, a form of musical storytelling popular in temple festivals in Tirunelveli; Kaniyan Koothu, which is performed exclusively by the Kaniyan tribe from the southern districts of Tamil Nadu; Chavittu Nadakam, a colourful Latin Christian classical art form that is mainly performed in central Kerala; and Gorukana, a folk dance of the Soliga tribal community in southern Karnataka.                              The very Enthusiastic ATREE Academy Team at the Conclave Quiz stall Throughout the two-day event, ATREE is also exhibiting work by various artists; and screening more than 25 films.  There are interactive exhibits including an audio booth called ‘Who’s Calling’, where festival attendees will get the chance to test their knowledge of sounds from the natural world. Researchers have put together a list of calls belonging to a range of species from frogs to large mammals.  ATREE is also hosting a board game contest; participants will have the opportunity to create a game that tackles complex environmental issues.
