 Dr Agarwal’s to invest ₹ 175 Crore in Karnataka over 2 years; launches new hospital at Indiranagar in Namma BENGALURU

Bangalore,11th December 2021: India’s leading eyecare specialists, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital plans to invest over ₹ 175 crore in expanding its presence in Karnataka over the next two years. The hospital chain made this announcement at the inauguration of its super-speciality eye care center at Indiranagar in Namma Bengaluru.

The new center is offering free consultations for patients who are 50 years or above till the month endKarnataka’s Honourable Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Medical EducationDr K Sudhakar inaugurated the Indiranagar facility in the presence of Dr. Adil Agarwal, CEO, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Shri P C Mohan, MP Bangalore Central and Shri S Raghu, MLA, CV Raman Nagar.  

In the next two years, Dr Agarwal’s will set up around 25 hospitals in Karnataka at an investment of ₹150 crore. In addition, the Group will set up more than 30 vision centers at an investment of ₹ 25 crore, taking its total investment in the state to ₹ 175 crore over a two year period. 

Dr Adil Agarwal, CEO, Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, is optimistic about the Group’s growth prospects in Karnataka. “Karnataka has been a revenue generator for the Group, contributing approximately ₹100 crore to our overall business. Currently, we have 15 centers in the state (11 in Bangalore and 4 outside Bangalore). In the next 36 months, with all the expansion that we have lined up, we expect the state to contribute to ₹ 200 crore to the Group’s business. Karnataka is an important state for us and we are committed to expanding our presence here both in Bengaluru and outside the city,” he said.

Inaugurating the new facility at Indiranagar, Honourable Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education, Dr K Sudhakar, said, “I am happy to inaugurate the new center at Indiranagar, which I am sure will offer the best eye care service to people in East Bengaluru and beyond. Vision care can change lives and Dr. Agarwal’s has been changing lives one at a time. It is good to know that Dr. Agarwal’s is opening more clinics across the state. The hospital chain is doing exemplary work in the field of eye care and new centers across the state will help more people receive the best eye care,” he said.  

Dr. Agarwal’s newest center in Indiranagar will be a refractive hub for the hospital chain, which means that all refractive surgeries from all of Dr. Agarwal’s branches in Karnataka will be performed out of this center. The center is equipped with advanced technology and the latest equipment to provide comprehensive eyecare in a holistic manner. The hospital is housed in two floors, spread across approximately 5,000 sq ft.     Bangalore 8th December 2021 : The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated RV University (RVU). He also launched the School of Computer Science & Engineering and School of Business which will commence courses from the year 2022. The event was attended by the Minister for Higher Education, Karnataka, Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan and several other notable dignitaries. The Chief Minister and the Higher Education Minister distributed COVID scholarships and merit scholarships instituted by the university to students. 


    The newly launched School of Computer Science and Engineering will offer a B. Tech (Hons.) in Computer Science & Engineering and a B.Sc. (Hons.) with specialization in Data Science, Decision Science and Computer Science. The new School of Business will offer a B.B.A. (Hons.) with specialization in Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics and Human Resource Management. It will also offer a B. Com (Hons.) with specialization in Banking & Finance, Risk Management and Audit. In addition, RVU School of Business will launch an Executive MBA programme for working professionals in 2022. 


    In his Inaugural Address, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Basavaraj Bommai said, “It gives me immense pleasure to inaugurate a university of such calibre. Democracy is not just limited to elected representatives; it extends itself to the citizens of the country.     In his Presidential Address, RV University Chancellor Dr. M.K. Panduranga Setty said, “RSST – RV University continues to be committed to the community of learners. Backed by its rich experience and academic excellence, RV University will aim to set new benchmarks in imparting quality education. On this joyous day, I dedicate RV University to the cause of education in our illustrious country and compliment everyone who contributed to the cause.” 

    Outlining the vision of the University, RV University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Dr) YSR Murthy said, “RV University has started its first year with eight programmes offering degrees in three Schools dealing with Liberal Arts, Design, Economics and Finance. We are delighted to launch today the School of Computer Science & Engineering and School of Business, which will start courses from the next academic year. We will have six schools and 20 programmes offering degree in two years’ time, by 2023. At RV University, we have consciously embraced a multi-disciplinary research-cum- teaching university model as per the National Educational Policy.”   

    Referring to the ambitious 10-year strategic plan evolved by the RVU, Prof (Dr). Murthy said, “We wish to be a thought leader in various disciplines and produce outstanding next generation leaders and entrepreneurs. RVU has already forged over 25 National and International collaborations so far and more are on the anvil. These partnerships will immensely benefit our students and faculty. Our latest partnership with Coursera will open unlimited learning opportunities to everyone. In ten years’, time RVU plans to have 10 Schools, 650 faculty members, 10,000 students and 300 collaborations. We wish to make Karnataka and the country proud!”  

    Pro Chancellor, RVU, Shri A.V.S. Murthy joined the Chancellor in felicitating the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. Shri D.P. Nagaraj, Pro-Vice Chancellor, RV University and Joint Secretary, Rashtreeya Sikshana Samiti Trust (RSST) facilitated the distribution of scholarship certificates to meritorious students by the Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister. 

  • The technology-enabled new age university aims to provide holistic and inclusive education to enable the aspiring generation of students in becoming well-rounded individuals. Aligning itself to the New Education Policy (NEP), the university will focus on skilling and employability of students in addition to knowledge creation. The curriculum will be in pace with the global technological changes and the teaching would be experiential and encourage self-learning.

    The university has over 200 students enrolled in the existing Schools of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Economics, and Design, in its maiden year of operations. BANGALORE,December 7, 2021: A high-level team led by Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, held a roadshow in Bengaluru on Tuesday (December 7, 2021), as part of the forthcoming 10th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2022 in January. He was accompanied by Shri Vijay Nehra, Secretary, Science and Technology, Gujarat.

                                                        

 

Addressing dignitaries in India’s ‘Silicon Valley’, the Minister said the country has, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, registered remarkable socio-economic development and evolved into a dynamic country with a strong standing across the world. Shri Vaghani cited the initiatives undertaken by the Centre that would have a far-reaching impact on India’s future. They include the Prime Minister’s GatiShatki Master Plan, Production- Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, transparent and predictable tax system, reducing compliance burden, Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living, and Make in India.

 

The VGGS was conceptualised in 2003 under the visionary leadership of Shri Narendra Modi (who was then the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat). Ever since, the Summit has emerged as a global forum for business networking, knowledge-sharing and strategic partnerships for inclusive socio-economic development. He said the Hon’ble PM will inaugurate the Summit on January 10, at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in the august presence of dignitaries from India and abroad, ministers from the Government of India, global and Indian business heads, and thought leaders.

 

In 2020, the Hon’ble PM gave the clarion call for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” to leverage India’s strengths, skills, and capabilities for galvanizing the country to becoming self- reliant. The theme of the 10th VGGS 2022 is ‘Aatmanirbhar Gujarat to Atma Nirbhar Bharat’, the Minister pointed out.

In its 75 th year of Independence in 2022, as India celebrates the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Gujarat is committed to realise the Hon’ble PM’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Gujarat’s focus on building robust industrial infrastructure, including roads, ports, airports, power, and gas has helped the State stay on the top of the chart in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) for 3 years--2018, 2019 and 2021.

 

He asserted that Gujarat is a policy-driven state. To create an enabling environment, the State Government has launched policies and schemes incentivizing investors for future growth, including the Industrial Policy 2020, Integrated Logistics & Logistics Park Policy, Electric Vehicle Policy, Solar Energy Policy, and Tourism and Textiles policy, 2021.

 

To enhance ‘Ease of Doing Business’, the Gujarat Government has created portals for Land Bank and Investor Facilitation. The State’s agency, iNDEXTb, has dedicated investor relationship officers and country desks to handhold and facilitate investors.

 

The Gujarat Government is keen to scale up investments in the next generation infrastructure, energy and digital networks, emerging technologies, financial technologies (fintech), Startups and innovation, electric vehicles, research and development, knowledge exchange, exports, tourism, and financial services. The State will also benefit from the upcoming ‘Dedicated Freight Corridor’ (DFC) and ‘Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor’ (DMIC).

 

He said Karnataka is home to leading IT firms and over 2,000 IT firms, including Startups. “Gujarat is also revamping its Startup Innovation Policy and IT and ITeS Policy to encourage and support the existing and forthcoming IT firms to expand their business in the State which is home to leading Startups mentorship institutes including iHub, iCreate and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI). 

 

Three of the State’s cities--Surat, Ahmedabad and Vadodara-- feature in India’s Smart City Ranking. The State is well-known for some of India’s best educational institutes, such as the IIM-Ahmedabad, National Institute of Design (NID), and National Forensic Sciences University.

 

Inviting investors, Shri Vaghani said the VGGS 2022 presents a unique business opportunity for them. Shri Vijay Nehra, Secretary, Science and Technology, said Gujarat attracted the highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), worth USD 21.9 billion (INR 1.63 lakh crore), or 37% of the total FDI equity inflows in India in FY21.

                                                           
  

 

The Summit will host flagship events on key national initiatives like the PM’s GatiShakti National Master Plan, Production-Linked Incentive (PLI), Good Governance, Reducing Compliance Burden, Green Hydrogen, Renewable Energy, Electric Mobility and Futuristic Technology and Innovation.

The Hon’ble PM will inaugurate the Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show (VGGTS) on January 9 and the VGGS 2022 on January 10. The three-day VGGS will conclude on January 12 and the Trade Show on January 13.

Earlier, Air Marshal R K Dhir, Defence Advisor to the Gujarat Government, made a presentation.

The Gujarat delegation also had one-on-meetings with business and industry leaders, including Ms Daisy Chittilapilly (President, India and SAARC Operations, CISCO), Shri AlokOhrie (President and MD, Dell Technologies, India), Shri Rakesh Mohan Agarwal (Chairman and MD, ITI Ltd), Dr K Sivan (Chairman, ISRO), Shri Kamal Bali (President and MD, Volvo Group), and Shri Ramesh BV (MD Bosch Rexroth, Bosch India Ltd).

In 2020, the Hon’ble PM gave the clarion call for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” to leverage India’s strengths, skills, and capabilities for galvanizing the country to becoming self- reliant. The theme of the 10th VGGS 2022 is ‘Aatmanirbhar Gujarat to Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, the Minister pointed out.

 

In its 75th year of Independence in 2022, as India celebrates the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Gujarat is committed to realize the Hon’ble PM’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

 

Gujarat’s focus on building robust industrial infrastructure, including roads, ports, airports, power, and gas has helped the State stay on the top of the chart in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) for 3 years--2018, 2019 and 2021.

 

He asserted that Gujarat is a policy-driven state. To create an enabling environment, the State Government has launched policies and schemes incentivizing investors for future growth, including the Industrial Policy 2020, Integrated Logistics & Logistics Park Policy, Electric Vehicle Policy, Solar Energy Policy, and Tourism and Textiles policy, 2021.

 

To enhance ‘Ease of Doing Business’, the Gujarat Government has created portals for Land Bank and Investor Facilitation. The State’s agency, iNDEXTb, has dedicated investor relationship officers and country desks to handhold and facilitate investors.

 

The Gujarat Government is keen to scale up investments in the next generation infrastructure, energy and digital networks, emerging technologies, financial technologies (fintech), Startups and innovation, electric vehicles, research and development, knowledge exchange, exports, tourism, and financial services. The State will also benefit from the upcoming ‘Dedicated Freight Corridor’ (DFC) and ‘Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor’ (DMIC).

 

He said Karnataka is home to leading IT firms and over 2,000 IT firms, including Startups. “Gujarat is also revamping its Startup Innovation Policy and IT and ITeS Policy to encourage and support the existing and forthcoming IT firms to expand their business in the State which is home to leading Startups mentorship institutes including iHub, iCreate and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI).

 

Three of the State’s cities--Surat, Ahmedabad and Vadodara-- feature in India’s Smart City Ranking. The State is well-known for some of India’s best educational institutes, such as the IIM-Ahmedabad, National Institute of Design (NID), and National Forensic Sciences University.

 

Inviting investors, Shri Vaghani said the VGGS 2022 presents a unique business opportunity them.

 

Shri Vijay Nehra, Secretary, Science and Technology, said Gujarat attracted the highest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), worth USD 21.9 billion (INR 1.63 lakh crore), or 37% of the total FDI equity inflows in India in FY21.

                                     

      

 

The Summit will host flagship events on key national initiatives like the PM’s GatiShakti National Master Plan, Production-Linked Incentive (PLI), Good Governance, Reducing Compliance Burden, Green Hydrogen, Renewable Energy, Electric Mobility and Futuristic Technology and Innovation.

 

The Hon’ble PM will inaugurate the Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show (VGGTS) on January 9 and the VGGS 2022 on January 10. The three-day VGGS will conclude on January 12 and the Trade Show on January 13. 

 

The Bengaluru roadshow received an enthusiastic response, indicative of the stakeholders exploring new possibilities of investments in Gujarat in diverse sectors.

 

Other prominent speakers from the government and industry including Air Marshal R K Dhir, Defense Advisor to the Gujarat Government, Mr. Sagar Agarwal, Co – Chairman –ASSOCHAM Karnataka State Council & Senior Vice President Transystem Logistics International Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Sandip Shah – Head – IFSC Department, GIFT City, Mr. Shailesh Agarwal – Vice President IBM India Limited, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi – CEO - Hester Bioscience and Prof. Peter Doerner on Biotechnology also addressed the gathering on the various investment opportunities in Gujarat.
