BNMIT, Yuva Brigade and Swami Vivekananda Pratishthana donate food kits to 1,200 teachers of private schools in Namma BENGALURU

BNM Institute of Technology, Yuva Brigade and Swami Vivekananda Shreshta Bharata Pratishthana today joined hands to help 1,200 teachers (of private schools),who have not received their salaries because the uncertainty brought about by the pandemic.

On Saturday, the food kits were prepared on the campus of BNM Institute of Technology by their students and volunteers of Yuva Brigade and Swami Vivekananda Shreshta Bharata Pratishthana. The kits were handed over to a few select teachers today. The rest of the kits will be distributed to eligible teachers over the next two days to their homes.Each kit comprises good quality rice (10 kgs), toor dal (2 kgs), jaggery (2 kgs), rava (2 kgs),avalakki (2 kgs), flour (2 kgs), sugar (1 kg), chana dal (1 kg) and sunflower oil (1 ltr).

                       

Speaking about the initiative, Chakravarthy Sulibele, Mentor of Yuva Brigade, said, “The education sector is facing several challenges because of Covid. Many private schools are unable to run the institutions, as students have quit education and school owners are not able to pay salaries to the teachers. We decided to help such teachers in distress.”

                

Narayan Rao Mane, Secretary;BNMIT and Sri Anand, President, Swami Vivekananda Shreshta Bharata Pratishthana[SVSBP]were present on the occasion. SVSBP and Yuva Brigade are associated with the BNM Institute of Technology for many years in social service and philanthropic work.

“We launched our Covid relief work in 2020 by addressing the needs of essential service personnel such as hospital staff, police, BBMP sweepers and garbage collectors as well as stranded migrant workers and slum dwellers. We distributed food packets to them. This year also we are continuing our relief work,” said Narayan Rao Mane.

“During the second wave of the pandemic, we delivered more than 8,000 meals (hygienically prepared and nutritious meals) to home isolated patients in quarantine. Our volunteers distributed the food by visiting the slums, migrant workers camp and hospitals,” added Sri Anand.
