BPCL rolls out second phase of setting up EV Charging stations in Southern India,giving Namma BENGALURU Two corridors of Fast-Charge EV stations

 BPCL rolls out second phase of setting up EV Charging stations in Southern India,with Two Corridors emanating from Namma BENGALURU: Electric car owners in Bengaluru can now drive down to weekend getaways in their vehicles without any range anxiety:Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited [BPCL]on Friday launched EV Fast-Charging stations on two corridors: Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Mysore-Kodagu highways.


BPCL officials said fast chargers follow the CCS-2 protocol and are strategically located at nine of its fuel stations with an approximate distance of 100 Km on both sides of the routes.


“BPCL plans to provide CCS-2 EV charging stations at its fuel pumps at periodic intervals on all major national highways connecting major cities and economic centres in the country;eventually covering/facilitating around 7000  BPCL Petrol Bunks,countrywide.The Chennai-Trichy- Madurai highway was part of the first phase” said PS Ravi, executive director in-charge (retail), BPCL.

       


“The installation of 25 KW Fast Charger will enable customers to discover and charge their EVs(Cars,SUV's...the facilities do not support 2/3 wheelers-which lack the Fast Charge capability)in about 30 minutes to enjoy travel range of upto 125 Km along with the convenience of BPCL’s user mobile application "HelloBPCL". The fast charger can be self-operated without any manual assistance, however support staff help will be available, if and when needed,” 

Full safety protocols/fire safety measures will be in place,with neat/clean/ergonomic design features-facilities,he said.


He said customers will soon be able to book slots via app in advance. “We are also planning to set up solar panels at these retail outlets so we don’t need to depend on the grid for energy requirements. We are planning 200 more fast-charging corridors which includes Bengaluru- Kodaikanal and Bengaluru-Tirupati”.

A sum of Rs 500 Cr has been allocated for this year,eventually enabling/facilitating 7000 BPCL Petrol Bunks with EV Fast Charger Facilities,with plans for around 200 corridors in INDIA.


Ravi also unveiled BPCL’s e-gift vouchers tailored for the festive season. “We have launched an automated fuelling technology -UFill- to e-getaways;giving an extra filip to Namma BENGALURU-the most Cosmopolitan city in INDIA !
